§ 5. When Eochaid’s fosterfather (anonymous) learns of Midir’s recent actions (see §§ 1-4), he warns the king of the newcomer’s magical powers and advises him to put burdens on him. Eochaid then imposes on Midir the following tasks: clearing Mide of stones, rushes (lúachair) over Tethba, a causeway (tóchar) over Móin Lámraige, and wood over Bréifne. Two quatrains on the same subject [cf. Dinnshenchas of Ráith Ésa].

§ 6. Midir complains, to no avail, but bargains that he will find no one to hinder him until the next morning.

§ 7. Eochaid’s steward (rechtaire), who is sent to watch those in the bog (móin), witnesses how a great multitude is set to perform the tasks.
