§ 11. It is explained that Midir wilfully lost the first two games (see §§ 1-4) in order to wheedle Eochaid into accepting an unnamed stake (Étaín). The words chanted by Midir’s people as they were carrying out their work are presented in the form of an obscure retoiric (beg. ‘Cuirthe i lland tochre i lland’, cf. § 8), said to be recorded in the Lebor Droma Snechta.
