To avoid overload and perhaps to keep a sane head, we tend to split the longer ones over multiple pages and attempt to use natural breaking points, such as a break in handwriting or genre, to begin a new page. To the visitor of the site, these pages will appear in embedded form, one after another, without any indication (except to us) that we have broken up the table.

The most important fields are (1) those for position by folio/page/column number, (2) for the text in question (insert title of the relevant catalogue entry), and (3) for descriptions. TOCs for large manuscripts are best split into appropriate subentries (examples: Dublin, Trinity College, MS 1339, Dublin, Trinity College, MS 1318).
