Araile Domnach do Griguir oc edbairt cuirp Crist

Episode which forms § 13 of the Irish homily on Gregory and is also transmitted as a separate text. According to the legend, one time when St Gregory presided over mass and was about to administer the Holy Communion to a certain widow, she laughed, having doubts that Christ could be present in the consecrated bread and wine. She then witnessed a miracle in which the host transformed into a bloody finger, proving to her that it had become the body of Christ. Based on a version of a legend included in the Whitby Life of Gregory (ch. 20) as well as later works such Paul the Deacon’s Life.
