A brief passage of Irish interest is the chapter about an Irish healer called Butler (Hybernus quidam Butler nomine) whom Van Helmont met in a prison in Vilvoorde. Butler claimed to have cured many of the plague back in London and was witnessed healing a fellow prisoner of erysipelas through a toad amulet.
