The main hand appears to belong to the scribe who subscribes as Pilip Badlach: Is im sgithech do bharc Bhrian mic Diarmata AD ?1580. Misi Pilip Badl- (which appears below the annal for 1060). He has been identified as a member of the Ó Duibhgeannáin family.

In the catalogue description by Abbott, his name is anglicised as Philip Bradley [sic?], previously by O'Curry as ‘Philip Badley’.
