Item description
Éogan leaves with six ships and arrives at Dún Corcan. His arrival, which occurs at a time when Cathaír Mór is king of Ireland, is quickly rumoured across the country. Cathaír Mór allows him to have Druim Ard in Connacht, and Dubthelach and Telach/Tulach an tSloigh (among the Uí Liathain) in Munster (‘Cú Roí's province’). Just when Éogan goes to inspect his lands, his wife gives birth to a son, who is “baptized in druidic streams” and given the name of Ailill (Ailill Aulom). The druid predicts a bright future for the boy, who is sent to be raised at the court of his paternal grandfather.
