(TBC I)

Ailill and Medb decide to ask Cú Chulainn for a truce. Lugaid carries that message forward to Cú Chulainn, who consents on one condition: a man at the ford the next day. Medb has with her six mercenaries, royal heirs (rígdamna) of the Clanna Dedad, i.e. three men named Dub, from Imlech, and three named Derg, from Sruthair. They volunteer to meet Cú Chulainn the next morning, who slays them all.
