§ 1

On Blaí, man of the Ulaid, who had 7 x 7 cows and 7 plough-teams, and a guesthouse. It was geis for him that ”a woman should come in a company to his house without his sleeping with her, unless her husband were in her company.” One day, Celtchar’s wife Bríg Brethach entered the house, much to Blaí’s dismay. After Blaí confronted her, Bríg merely reminded him no good will come of violating his geis, and he slept with her.
