[EN] The Bratislava type of Celtic coins, which is designated also as the BIATEC currency because of the most common legend are usually evaluated from a standpoint of iconography and art as influenced by foreign models, especially the denarii of the Roman Republic. A detailed analysis of the entire monetary system (large silver coins with an average weight of 17 grams, with 15 kinds of legends, 27 variants, probably minted in the territory of the oppidum of the current Bratislava, in the period of approx. 70 to 40 BCE) can significantly change this view. It shows in his accomplishments the contribution of a developing Celtic art and an iconographic conception of its own. This article provides an outline of the problem.
