[EN] Researches on the 3rd century B.C. Celtic economy.
The 3rd century B.C. Celtic civilisation is caracterised by a thrieving expansion. What is the economical basis for such a prosperity ? Traditional archaeological sources are not a great help : agricultural implements or craft tools hardly ever accompany the dead in their tomb. Dwellings are poor in furniture and their date is uncertain. The earliest iron tools, sometimes gathered together in hoards or sanctuaries, are difficult to date. Two research axes are available : the study of the origin and development of new types of tools, such as the plough, or the rotary quern, or quantified studies on the agricultural production and on the animal husbandry based on dwelling excavations.
