[EN] The etymology of Old Irish cerd.
The traditional etymology of Gr. κέρδος «profit» is a comparison with the OIr. word for «craftship», a feminine noun, cerd from *ḱerdā. The author proposes a further link with the semantic field of «mind». Both words might be derived from an adjective based on the Indo-European word for «heart » *ḱrd-.
