Notes to self
- The template format is buggy and not currently used here. It should hold information about: (1) early and modern names, e.g. Lis Mór (Lismore); (2) coordinates, which may be tentative, approximate, etc.; (3) a short description, incl. ref. to associated saint(s) in the case of ecclesiastical sites.
- Separate icons are required for:
- Ecclesiastical sites
- Royal sites
- Hills (that are not also royal sites)
- Bodies of water such as lakes, etc.
- etc.
- Location markers other than points, such as polygons and lines, can be imported or manually drawn using Special:MapEditor.
- Polygons for approximate or more clearly marked out areas, e.g. counties, baronies, townlands or other districts. These pages are created and edited using Form:Area (deprecated), where the use of polygons should be enabled.
- Lines, e.g. for rivers, trails/routes, etc.
- An interactive map that avails itself of Special:RunQuery would be helpful.
