Websites moved to new server
As announced in a previous post, our websites – CODECS, Kelten and the official website of the Foundation – have been moved to a new server and hosting provider. Hopefully, the transition has been smooth enough to have happened without much of a hitch for you. If you do find issues and they persist, please head over to our Github board and submit a report.
There is one ongoing issue I should mention, although it is unrelated to the matter of server environments, meaning it rears its head regardless where the sites are hosted: the modern plague of search engine and AI bots hammering away at the server, putting quite a strain on CPU and if things get really tough, temporarily bringing the site down. I genuinely hope it is not issue that will demand attention on a daily basis. Some known crawlers are gentlemanly enough to respect instructions, but others are brutes that leave me no option other than to block them, and new bots, new user agents, keep cropping up over time.
