The part of Maghnus Ó Domhnaill’s Beatha Colaim Chille which deals with the parentage and birth of Colum Cille and prophecies of the saint’s coming by saints before him (notably St Patrick and St Brigit) and others. After Colum Cille’s lineage has been traced (§ 21-22), the bulk of this section is taken up by a series of prophecies (§§ 23-49), including a series of prophetic visions (§§ 44-49). It concludes with a story of the birth of Colum Cille (§§ 50-52).
