Collection of Sir Thomas Phillipps

The founding collection of the library is that which was acquired in 1896 from the library of Sir Thomas Phillipps, which covered a  large range in date (12th-19th century) and variety in content and included important manuscripts such as the Book of Aneirin (now MS 2.81).
