In the Laud Misc. 615 version, it is ascribed to Colum Cille “when teaching Guaire, who had never before practised generosity, but henceforward, through the blessing of Colum Cille and his teaching, became most generous” (tr. Meyer). A further attribution occurs in the final stanza.
