[EN] The appearance of great sanctuaries in the 3rd century B.C.
The appearance of great sanctuaries, with rich hoards, is certainly the most striking phenomenon of the 3rd century B.C. in the Far West regions of the Celtic world : Picardy, Loire Region, Poitou-Charentes, and Brittany.
The problem of the origin of these sanctuaries is approached through the examination of a few ritual features, and also through the analysis of the oldest offerings.
The invention of this kind of sanctuary, subsequently developing into the Gallo-Roman fanum, cannot be severed from the population moves which characterize Celtic Europe in the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C.
