The morphology of OIr. bes habit : derivatives in -tu-had an e-grade in IE but a zero grade in Celtic ; bes comes from *bhndh-tu- > *banssu~. — II, British *au : the ending -aw of W. inflected prep, in the 3rd sg. mase, is an old relational particle. — III OIr. bothar road , W. meidyr path : both reflect *bouitro-, probably a compound *gw ou-itro, with cow and the noun path (cf. the old heteroclitic Lat. iter, itineris). — IV.
