[FR] En l’absence de mythes le concernant, le dieu Sucellus pose un des problèmes les plus aigus à l’exégèse contemporaine. Reprenant le dossier (constitué principalement de son iconographie), je le définis comme dieu artisan du bois, spécialisé à l’époque gallo-romaine dans la fabrication des tonneaux. Il est alors possible de lui trouver un correspondant irlandais, le charpentier Luchtai. Et, au-delà, il offre des points communs précis avec le dieu artisan indien, spécialiste du bois, Viśvakarman, points communs qu’examine l’article.

[EN] Sucellus and Viîvakarman
Because the myths make no mention of him, god Sucellus is one of the most serious difficulties for contemporary exegesis. After reconsidering the case, which consists mainly of his iconography, I define him as a god of woodcraft specialising in the making of barrels in the Gallo-Roman period. He can thus be matched with an Irish counterpart, Carpenter Luchtai. Furthermore, he has some specific common points with Indian god Viśvakarman, also specialising in woodcraft. These common points are examined in this article.
